Compassion East India
Compassion International is a worldwide ministry advocating and caring for children for the last 56 years. It was a satisfying moment when the 1 billionth child was inducted into Child Sponsorship. CI in July 2002, opened a second country office in India at Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). Compassion East India initiated with 40 projects and 6000 children today has expanded to 192 projects and will soon be impacting 50,000 beneficiaries.
Compassion East India office is reaching out to impoverished children in the eight states of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim and Mizoram. The eastern region is the tribal hub of India. Once the cradle of rich ancient civilizations, these states are now among the poorest in the country due to civic unrest, lack of basic amenities and infrastructure, exploitation of people and under-utilization of natural reserves.
Compassion East India is catering to the needs of children and impacting families and communities across the length and breadth of this region. It intentionally positions to touch the lives of people in the urban pockets, poverty belts and impacting generations which otherwise would have become extinct.
What you are holding in your hands is one among the many resources, as part of the 50000 series. More resources will follow that will advocate the needs of children and why they are key to the development of future India.
We thank you for your support and patronage.
